Fire Prevention Week

Annually, fire departments around North America hold events in their communities describing various fire prevention initiatives. With the help of our mascot, Sparky, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services is proud to be a part of promoting fire safety during Fire Prevention Week. The theme changes each year with our most recent theme being displayed in the banner.
Brandon Activities Include:
“Fire Chief for a Day” – October 12th
“Fire Prevention Olympics” – October 13th
- This event is being hosted by King George School in 2011. Four grade 8 students team up with local celebrity from the Brandon Bobcats, KX96, 101The Farm, or one of their teachers. The four teams compete against each other through an obstacle course of “Olympic” Firefighter skills to see who will bring home the “gold”.
“Fire Safety Day” – October 14th in partnership with Canadian Tire, 18th Street.
- This is a public event happening at the 18th Street location between 10:00 am & 2:00 pm. Firefighters are on hand to distribute fire safety information and answer any questions.
