S.A.F.E. Baby Program

(Delivering Smoke Alarms For Every BABY)

The S.A.F.E. BABY Program was originally designed to deliver a smoke alarm and a fire safety education kit to every baby born in the City of Winnipeg. In 1999, funding was secured to expand the program province wide. Since that time, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services (BFES) has delivered and installed over 2,000 smoke alarms in homes of new babies within the City of Brandon. Firefighter/Paramedics not only deliver the Safe Baby Safety Package, they will also install the new smoke alarm in the new baby’s room.

Funding for the Provincial Program expired at the end of 2007, but thanks to funding provided by the following safety minded businesses, the Department has been able to continue this very valuable program: Guild Insurance Brokers, The Home Depot, Dick Agencies, Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation and West Protect Insurance Agency Ltd.
